L\u00e9o Caillard has always been fascinated by the historical sciences. From archaeology to anthropology, the artist passionately explores human evolution and the passage of time. Aware of humanity\u2019s fleeting presence on Earth, he examines how the legacy of the past shapes our present. As he himself states, he \u201cobserves history to reinvent our current society.\u201d After studying digital photography at Gobelins in Paris, Caillard made a name for himself in 2013 with his iconic series Hipsters in Stone<\/em>. Inspired by New York style, he digitally dresses neoclassical sculptures from the Louvre\u2019s collections, creating a bold fusion of ancient myths and contemporary culture. This humorous twist quickly went viral on social media and propelled his career onto the international stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trained in marble carving, Caillard has been developing a sculptural practice since 2012 that is renowned for its intricate details and remarkable technical mastery. As he points out, \u201cIf photography is about sculpting light, why not sculpt images directly?\u201d At the cutting edge of contemporary technology, he fuses the ancient and the modern with a unique signature. Engaging with digital culture, he creates \u201cglitched sculptures\u201d where a digital wave seems to pass through iconic classical figures such as Venus or Apollo. This visual tension captures the viewer\u2019s attention and invites reflection on the materials and processes used. His works thus become a true reflection on our digital world, at the boundary between the real and the virtual. By combining blockchain and marble, Caillard anchors his work in both the ephemeral and the enduring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since 2024, the artist has further expanded his scope by creating monumental sculptures for public spaces. These ambitious works bring his signature style\u2014blending classical heritage with contemporary aesthetics\u2014to an urban scale, offering the general public an immersive experience centered on time, technology, and collective memory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

L\u00e9o Caillard\u2019s work is currently on display at numerous major institutions around the world, including the Louvre Museum in Paris, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the Fondation Cartier, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Tokyo. His works have been presented alongside those of renowned artists such as Yves Klein, Damien Hirst, and Marc Quinn. Blending marble and screens, his practice weaves a fascinating dialogue between past and present, and sketches a unique vision of the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
