Luke Newton<\/strong>, artiste originaire de Colne, ville industrielle du nord de l\u2019Angleterre, d\u00e9veloppe une \u0153uvre \u00e0 la fois incisive et accessible. Form\u00e9 \u00e0 la prestigieuse Central Saint Martins \u00e0 Londres, il choisit ensuite la France pour poursuivre son parcours artistique. Il vit aujourd\u2019hui et travaille entre Roubaix et Paris.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00c0 travers l\u2019exposition Un Produit de Consommation<\/em>, Newton porte un regard critique sur les d\u00e9rives de notre soci\u00e9t\u00e9, qu\u2019il aborde avec un humour subtilement teint\u00e9 de culture britannique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Son travail se d\u00e9ploie sur une grande diversit\u00e9 de supports : collage, sculpture, peinture\u2026 L\u2019artiste brouille volontairement les fronti\u00e8res entre les disciplines. Il affectionne particuli\u00e8rement l\u2019assemblage de mat\u00e9riaux du quotidien, souvent consid\u00e9r\u00e9s comme d\u00e9pourvus de valeur esth\u00e9tique, qu\u2019il transforme en objets saisissants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ainsi, des emballages alimentaires se m\u00e9tamorphosent en t\u00eates de mort, la courbe d\u2019un c\u0153ur r\u00e9v\u00e8le une lame tranchante, tandis que des crayons de couleur s\u2019assemblent en armes \u00e0 feu. Newton joue avec les contrastes et d\u00e9tourne les formes famili\u00e8res pour cr\u00e9er un univers \u00e0 la fois ludique, d\u00e9routant et profond\u00e9ment r\u00e9flexif. Le spectateur est invit\u00e9 \u00e0 entrer dans un jeu visuel stimulant, o\u00f9 les symboles de son quotidien se trouvent questionn\u00e9s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Les \u0153uvres, pr\u00e9sent\u00e9es dans une esth\u00e9tique \u00e9pur\u00e9e, s\u00e9duisent par leurs finitions impeccables, presque industrielles. Leur aspect lisse et r\u00e9p\u00e9titif \u00e9voque les cha\u00eenes de production de masse, renforc\u00e9 par la reproduction en s\u00e9rie de certaines pi\u00e8ces, ponctu\u00e9e de subtiles variations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Derri\u00e8re leur apparence pop et manufactur\u00e9e, les cr\u00e9ations de Luke Newton r\u00e9v\u00e8lent une v\u00e9ritable profondeur conceptuelle. \u00c0 premi\u00e8re vue famili\u00e8res, elles d\u00e9voilent, \u00e0 mesure qu\u2019on les observe, un d\u00e9tournement de leur valeur symbolique. L\u2019illusion d\u2019ordinaire s\u2019efface alors pour laisser \u00e9merger un paradoxe troublant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
